Free Kakuro Puzzles
From 5X5 to 12X12, there’s virtually no limit to the Kakuro grid; those who are already becoming curious about our subject of discussion, Kakuro is a game like Sudoku that resembles crosswords but played with numbers. The best part is free Kakuro puzzles can be found almost anywhere. Kakuro presents across and down clues to be filled with the numbers between 1 and 9. The game aims at filling each blank square with the numbers to sum up to the clue associated with it. But duplication of numbers is a strict no-no; thus 8 can be represented as 1&7, 2&6 or 3&5, but not 4&4. The grids vary in sizes but the squares within have to be symmetrically arranged. However, number of blank squares is directly proportional to the hardness of the game found in free Kakuro puzzles.
The most amazing part of free Kakuro puzzles is that it gets reduced to the simplest and most significant form without losing generality; the grid (16 X 16) of filled and empty cells (colored black and white), divided into entries (i.e. orthogonal lines of white cells) form a diagonal slash that runs from the corner upper-left to lower-right. There’s a number in one or in both the halves; this imparts the horizontal entry a number in the black half-cell to its immediate left. Each vertical entry also has a number in the black half-cell immediately above, and is termed as a clue. However, Kakuro grids are also made identical to crossword grids that lack labeling in the black cells. Instead of numbering the entries, separate lists of the clues are provided that matches crossword clues.
There are lots of free Kakuro puzzles that come as downloads in different websites and usually have five difficulty levels from easy to most difficult. The grid sizes also vary accordingly; from 8x8 to 14x18. These can either be printed or can be solved online. Some of the free Kakuro puzzles allow zeros as well and have a guaranteed unique solution.
